Dr. Thomas C. BrunoldThomas was born in Bern, Switzerland, in 1969. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Bern in 1996, working with Hans U. Güdel on the design and spectroscopic characterization of new transition-metal-based near-IR laser materials. From 1997 to 1999 he was a postdoctoral fellow with Edward I. Solomon at Stanford University, studying binuclear iron and manganese centers in proteins and synthetic model complexes. He joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin |

Brad BettsBrad grew up in Grafton, WI and is currently presuing a BS in Chemistry at UW-Madison. In the summer of 2011 he joined the group where he works with Craig studying the interaction of superoxide with a Mn-based small molecule functional mimic of Fe- & Mn-dependent superoxide dismutases. In his free time outside of the lab Brad is on the university rowing team and enjoys being active in general. |
||
Beth BlaesiBeth grew up in Kansas. She received a BS in Chemistry and a BS in Biochemistry from Kansas State University in 2009. She joined the group later that year and is currently studying cysteine dioxygenase (CDO) in an effort to elucidate its catalytic mechanism. |
|||
Craig GutmanCraig grew up in Denver, CO. In 2008 he received a BS in Chemistry and a BS in Biology from Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR and joined the Brunold group later that year. Within the group he works on studying cambialistic (non-metal specific) Fe- and Mn- dependent superoxide dismutases and related small-molecule functional mimics. He hopes to one day pursue a career in academics. |

Chris JordanChris is originally from Woodstown, NJ and he joined the group in 2009 after receiving a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in Mathematics from Hope College where he worked under Dr. Will Pollik. He especially enjoys cookies on Tuesdays and is currently working on computationally modeling the role of cobalamin in glutamate mutase. |

Ivan Pallares
Ivan joined the group in 2009 after receiving a B.S Chemistry Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Originally from Colombia, he came to Madison looking for more interesting climates. He works in the cobalamin subgroup. |

Kristine Smith
Kristine joined the group in 2010 after receiving a B.A. in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA. Originally from Seattle, she enjoys the outdoors and organizing. She works on studying cambialistic Fe- and Mn- dependent superoxide dismutases. |
